As the winter draws to a close, the Queen of Hoxton's Rooftop will transform from its toasty winter incarnation as the WigWamBam to the summer solace which sees the madding crowds of East London flock to enjoy a tipple or two long into the evening. Summer 2012 saw pop up rooftop events such as the packed out Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, the Queen's Jubilee celebration which proved a good spot for the Red Arrows fly over, not to mention the madness of our Olympic sports day: NO SWEAT! which will return this year on 6th July (Team tickets now live: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/).
So without further ado lets give you a little taster of what’s to come this summer... The hugely successful ROOFTOP FILM CLUB is back on May 1st at its original home following its winter hiatus, with a packed programme of cult classics. Keep your eyes on the prize as these tickets are hot and sell out within hours of going online! This ultimate outdoor film experience is enjoyed under the stars with blankets and headphones supplied so you aren’t disturbed whilst other film goers order tasty BBQ treats and their chosen tipple from the rooftop bar and kitchen. Watch out for our series of rooftop silent disco parties with special guest DJs suitable for a summer sun dance off!! Follow our twitter: @_Queenofhoxton_ or our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/thequeenofhoxton to be first in the know! * Frozen cocktails are back on the bar with a range of new recipes. * All new BBQ menu to be unveiled very soon with some super tasty new vegetarian meals and equally mega meaty feasts. Not one's to give the game away too early... we will be making some announcements in the coming weeks
Shake off those winter blues because the Queen of Hoxton’s WigWamBam is back in town! Perched high above bustling Shoreditch on the edge of the city and swathed in fairy lights, the WigWamBam pop-up returns for its second winter.
Possibly the cosiest tipi this side of Nebraska, the familiar setting brings back fond memories of camping with the Scouts/Brownies/Girl Guides (delete as applicable!) and will have everyone reminiscing about this summer’s festivals. Escape from the busy city and relax by the crackling fire pit complete with (toast-your-own) marshmallows, S’mores (a winter essential, look ‘em up!) and a hot chocolate ‘spiked’ with a dark spirit of your choosing.
The Queen of Hoxton will truly be bringing the outdoors-in, with their famous, gigantic Schwenkgrill which hangs dramatically from the centre of the tipi cooking up delicious juicy whole lamb, hog roast and mouth-watering haunches of venison. On weekend evenings, staples of wild boar sausages and venison burgers will be on the menu, to be washed down with hot buttered rum. Worry not veggies, as we’ll be feeding you too! Expect ceramic mugs filled to the brim with hearty veggie scotch broth and barbequed, stuffed butternut squash. Yum!
Whilst you sample the warming dark spirits on offer or even powwow in the corner with a steaming hot toddy, the Queen of Hoxton will be holding one-off events in the tipi to keep you thoroughly entertained. Keep your eyes peeled for the programme of events.
If you didn’t get a chance to check out WigWamBam last year then hurry on down (or up!), what are you waiting for?! And if you did, then you’ll know what all the fuss is about!
